systema nervosum
  • Nervous system of a bilaterian animal, in the form of a nerve cord with segmental enlargements, and a "brain" at the front
  • Layers protecting the brain and spinal cord.
  • Major elements in synaptic transmission. An electrochemical wave called an [[action potential]] travels along the [[axon]] of a [[neuron]]. When the wave reaches a [[synapse]], it provokes release of a small amount of [[neurotransmitter]] molecules, which bind to chemical receptor molecules in the membrane of the target cell.

  • Human embryo, showing neural groove
  • Area of the human body surface innervated by each spinal nerve
  • Diagram showing the major divisions of the vertebrate nervous system.
  • Simplified schema of basic nervous system function: signals are picked up by sensory receptors and sent to the spinal cord and brain, where processing occurs that results in signals sent back to the spinal cord and then out to motor neurons

  • '''Fig. 10''' A histological cross-section through an alveolar wall showing the layers through which the gases have to move between the blood plasma and the alveolar air. The dark blue objects are the nuclei of the capillary [[endothelial]] and alveolar type I [[epithelial]] cells (or type 1 [[pneumocyte]]s). The two red objects labeled "RBC" are [[red blood cell]]s in the pulmonary capillary blood.
  • '''Fig. 9''' The changes in the composition of the alveolar air during a normal breathing cycle at rest. Systema

Systema (Russian: Система, romanized: Sistema, lit. 'system') is a Russian martial art. There are multiple schools of systems that began appearing after the end of the Soviet Union in the 1990s, with teachers claiming their respective "systems" (usually named after themselves). Training includes, but is not limited to: hand-to-hand combat, grappling, knife fighting, and firearms training. Training involves drills and sparring without set kata.

Still Hopeful Despite the general feeling of helplessness as a result of the low turnout, there were those who refused to give up.
